has anybody else tried to make a cradle like the funk and use another engine, small block chevy or a 4 cylinder import or small diesel. I can't imagine why this could not work. I guess the clutch is the only inportant match-up that would have to be made. The funk cradle looks like it would be easy to make Andy

A genuine Funk has a cast iron oil pan that allows the new engine to be bolted to the rest of the Ford making for a very finished look.

I don't know what you're talking about when you say "cradle" but Funk's didn't have "cradles." There were some earlier conversions that used iron braces to hold the engines but they weren't Funks. I think they were called Gulivers or something like that. But, as I understand it, all genuine Funks have the cast iron bottoms that just bolt on the rest of the tractor.

If you can find one of these posts that take you to the Smith's page, they have a link to a company that sells V8 conversions. I think they are stoffersV8.com or something like that.

Bill, I beg to differ with that statement. For about the first year of production, the Funk kits had a channel iron frame. The cast oil pan did not appear until the second year. This photo shows the Funk adapter. Just below the name you can see where the channel iron bolts on. There is a photo of a genuine early Funk 6 with the "cradle" at the link below.

I thought only the Glovers used channel iron but, I stand corrected. :-) Thanks for keeping me straight John.

Here's just one of many built by Marvin Baumann. This one has a 351 Ford V8.

How does someone contact Marvin Baumann? I have a wrecked 74 nova with a 350 and a ford 601 with a bad engine. A conversion looks interesting but I would still want hyd. and possible governor.

Is this Funk for sale? If so, where exactly is it and what kind of shape is it in?

I live in Leander, TX just outside Austin and Wimberly isn't too far from me. As a matter of fact, I bought a '59 Ford F-100 pickup from a guy in Wimberly just last year.
