PTO question urgent

Re my 9N. I had the PTO shaft out to replace the relief valve, oil etc. I have now replaced the PTO shaft using a cork gasket that I cut out.

I"m about to now add the new oil but was wondering if the thickness of the new PTO gasket will cause me a problem. The cork gasket is 1/16 versus the very thin previous paper gasket. This means the shaft is out about 1/16 from before.

Maybe I worry too much, but then maybe it could cause a problem. I"ll listen to what you guys say before continuing.

Thanks
Ron

I don't think there should be any play n the pto in/out.. so I'm not sure what the other replier was refering to,.

If it were me, I'd cut some non corugated cardboard.. or preferably.. posterboard or cardstock from your stationary/computer.. it will be much closer to the oem gasket materiaal, and not make a big gap like cork. Cerial box.. show box.. etc...

Thanks souNdguy. After I posted the question, I did have second thoughts about the cork gasket. I ended up reusing the original gasket which was in good shape. No leaks so far.

It's interesting to know that I could have used posterboard or cardstock.

Thanks

Those are real close to gasket paper. I generally make most of my non-critical gaskets out of gasket paper.. though sure have used shoe box, and card stock from the wifes computer../.. etc..

Shouldn't be a problem, the shaft has at least that much "play" in it anyway.
