Just had to post a note on this latest update on getting high speed internet out in the boon docks. I , like most of you in the country, have been treated like the red headed stepchild by the phone company. shoot, I am just glad to get a dial tone, and high speed dial up for internet was a joke.. Nothing available.

So, on advice from a few of you I got in touch with Agistar networks>Link

Anyway, long long story made real short. They are nothing more than a resale outlet for Direcway!! The install guy that showed up knew how to do two things, dig a hole to put the pole up and run the cables to the Direcway satellite router. To make the computer see the internet and log on, he had to call DIRECWAY!!! NOT Agistar, they are just a re seller for that service. We had tons of problems here, have two computers with a working local network. After he left I had high speed internet one computer and no more network printers and could not see the other computer!! Jeeze,,

So, called Agistar, got the royal run around and was told in no uncertain terms to NOT deal with Direcway. Well, shoot, they were no help at all in getting my network working at all. BTW, before the installer and Agistar installed and attempted to configuer all my network it worked fine!! All my printers worked and I could surf with no problems, except for speed.

Anyway, after 3 days of arguing with them since they claimed they did not do networks, even after THEIR man screwed it up, I called my buddy in New Mexico. He was able to talk me through reworking the settings and getting both computer to access the internet and each other, which is vital!!

It is my humble opinion that if you need or are thinking about high speed satellite internet, go direct to the people who have it,, Direcway , Do not bother with Agistar or another seller, they do not have any service people that know what they are doing, just sales men.

As soon as I can get my new emails established I will have a new one, and it will be with Direcway.

Oh, yes, I am getting fast internet now,, and almost got my emails working. Once I get my jet direct print servers off the Linksys DSL router that I had to buy, I will have printers again..

:-( Not a happy camper with Agistar at all and will NOT use their email.

Oh gosh! I feel terrible about this, seeing as how I am one of the people who recommended Agristar to you. Geeze louise! We've gotten good service from them but it's sure clear you have NOT. I apologize for all the mess since I inadvertently helped cause it.

Hang in there! Don't give up on getting service elsewhere that will work for you!!!

Dawn

Hey Dawn, not your fault at all by any way.. forget about it.

I do love the highspeed connection and wife does also since she can now connect at her computer and do her searching and research as well.

Could not get but one printer to work again, they were both running on Jet direct print servers which no longer have any TCP/IP since Direct Way uses those on the satelitte network and can not share them... but hey,,, we are back up and running!! :-)

Now back to getting the tractors running!!

You should be able to get your printers both going again. I have high speed (DSL, but that part doesn't really matter) as well as a home network and I use print servers for my printers. What probably happened is that Direcway uses a different network range than you used to use, and so your JetDirect devices are still on the old IP address range.

You probably need to use the CD that came with the JetDirect to give it a new IP address compatible with the way your network is now set up -- that's all.

YAY TRACTORS! :-)

I'm just glad you've got high-speed now. That's the main thing! And think how quickly you can search the YT Archives from now on!! LOL
