Put a post on here last week i think about my hydraulics raising all the way up but then not wanting to go down. I rebuilt the pump and put the new gaskets on the piston assembly. Put it all back together once and found it wasn't working. Couple of you guys suggested it was unloading valve, took the valve out, i have the kind without the o-ring, cleaned, sanded and put back together. Still, it goes up but not back down. Whats next, i'm bout through with it and ready to call my NH dealer to come get it and fix it. I'd rather not do that as it will cost a fortune.

Sounds like your unloading valve is still sticking. It has to have clean oil for it to work.

Did you try pushing the lift arms down while the engine is running?????

Sometimes the unloading valve can move allmost all the way to the down position and not quiet exhaust all the flow to the ram but you can still push the lift arms down or an implement can push it down. Sometimes this condition can fix itself when the unloading valve gets broken in so to speak.

Did the unloading valve move freely after it was re assembled""" Sometimes the unloading valve can be damaged in removing the back plug to remove the valve and if it is the least hard to move it will not work.

I am assuming that it is an NAA by the fact you said it has no O ring on it?????

When i took it all apart, i tried as carefully as i could to not knick or damage anything. When i put it all back together the valve moved but i had to put a little force to it, it didn't move as freely as i thought. I will take it apart again and check one more time. When i took it apart, i took the whole assembly out, cleaned, sanded all finished/milled surfaces and then put back together.

I am able to push it down with a lot force after the lift reaches the very top. Once down, comes right back up, doesn't stay down.

I had that happen on an N a few years ago. I put the lever all the way down and then bounced a weight on the lift arms a few times and then it started working. Don't have a clue what I did, but it worked and is still working. Stuck valve I guess.
