Got my first tractor delivered today. I believe it's a 2N (3 speed) with an 8N motor. Paid $1600 at a local dealer. It sat for a few months and the air inlet on the hood had a hole and let water in the air filer and into the carb. It ran off the trailer for delivery and died in the driveway. Pulled the air filter and it was full of water. It started with ether so I pulled carb, full of rust but was able to do a 5 minute clean and get it running fine again.

Gonna spend the weekend flushing the fluids.

I do have a side question though. Will be looking for a bushhog style mover this weekend, should it be 5 or 6 foot?

Thanks,
Paul

Paul,
Real nice looking tractor.
You will be looking for a 5 foot rotary mower not a 6 foot. Your N might not even pick up a 6 footer.
Good luck
Jerry

I run a 5 foot brush hog and its just about all mine can handle. Before I got it it took me 15 three hour days to brush cut with a hand held cutter. Once I hooked up the hog it took me four hours. That was 7 yrs ago. Now it takes me two days and I am still expanding. These n's sure take a beating. Enjoy

You may know this already but an overriding clutch is an absolute must, with this tractor and a bush-hog type mower. Don't leave home without it.

You have a very nice looking tractor there! If all the mechanicals work as nicely as it looks, then you got an excellent bargain at $1600.
It sounds like you know a fair bit about tractors already, so I think you checked it out carefully before you bought it.
Welcome to the N owners club!!
Happy tractoring!
Carl

Looks like you got a great deal. I have a 5 foot bush hog and thats about all I want to deal with unless I had a few acres of hay to mow. I'm using mine to maintain hiking trails on about 11 acres, mostly wooded, and the 5 foot cutter is a lot easier to get in and out of tight places.
