Hello Folks, I tried this yesterday but I gues I Goofed so I'll try again. Has anyone rebuilt thier own distributor? Through tial and error I got mine apart without damaging it, now all I have to do is get the old bushing out to put in a new one. Any tips?

Your best bet is to take it to an auto electric shop and have them rebuild it and recurve the advance system. They have a machine that they use to check the advance system and adjust it. It can be done by trail and error on the tractor but it is very time consuming.

Its pretty straigtfoward, I had the shaft metalilized and machined for $40. Im still trying to make one good one out of 3 misfits, by changing weights or springs. I have rebuilt a good one, but now Im working on experimental replacements due to the scarcity and expense of new ones. Watch out for "rebuild" ones because that could mean many things starting with new points.

Jimmy Jack; Thanks for your reply. This is my first attempt at restoring an 8N, my grandaughter is after me to get it back together so she can go for a ride so this is priority one.
