I have an 8N with an odd hood. The cut-out for battery/fuel cover stops just before the gas tank and there is a "factory" hole cut-out for the gas cap. No cover or hinge or holes for hinge. The hood is "flat" instead of a kind of dome shape to the top of the hood. It has the "ford" script on both sides of the hood and they are painted red, an exact match to the script looks like factory done. Does anybody have any idea were this hood came from?

Could it have been a reject hood modified to be useable? It looks like the shape of the top part of the hood was not formed completely.

Alan, story goes there were some odd hoods that wound up at the Paris Texas Ford Farm. Tom Armstrong has one NOS that has the Ford script on the front and rear on the hood. Is that what you have?

No, mine only has "ford" script on the front of the hood. What is the Paris Texas Ford Farm? I would post a picture but I can't figure out how.

Alan, I don't want to add more 2 centses where you don't need them, so I'll ask first: have you gotten a set of instructions on how to post a picture yet? Are you getting some help on that? If not, feel free to email me off list and I'll try to help. --Dawn

Alan, Ford Tractor Division had a test farm just north of Paris Texas. I spent a week there in 1967. just a kid I was. Ford also had a farm just outside of Memphis between Germantown and Collierville and another in Georgia. I think they have all been sold.

Kelly:

I grew up in Paris. Always wondered what that place was out there. After Pat Maise Lake was built in 1970 we went out that way every weekend of the summers to camp, ski, fish.

There was always a bunch of what looked like new equipment out front, so I thought it was a dealership!

Look at the left side of this page under "Galleries" & click on "Help Identify". There will be instructions on the page that opens to help you post a pic from your computer.

If you get stuck let us know, we'll walk you thru it.

You need a photo site like Photobucket or go to "Parts&Pieces" on the left and follow instructions.
