Actually looking for a boom pole, I ran across this item on ebay. I've never seen one but am wondering if it might have been built by Mr Z.

I have both Zane Thang and one like for sell at ebay. Both work but I much prefer the latter as it does not get in the way at all. It actually does not require you to modify tractor either. Both designs are basically copies of the original aftermarket position control device from the 50's...see this link Link

Looks like the one someone made after seeing one of mine a while back. Actually I thought about the same sort of device when I was trying to figure out how to make position control for the Ferguson system three point hitch but trashed the idea as too hard to install and maintain. Not to mention make.

The ones I make are a lot simpler and ten times easier to install with no modifications. You have to see it to believe how effective at maintaining a set level of the lift arms it really is. Wish I had one years ago on my TO 20 Ferguson when I raked hay with it. Had to use chains to hole the thing at the level I wanted it to stay. Threw those things away after I invented the ZANE THANG!

Having installed one of the real ones myself, this is definantly NOT a Zane Thang. It is most likely one of several different styles of homemade position control devices.

I highly recommend the original however. Easy to install, easy to remove, looks good, and doesn't require you to modify the tractor.

Yeah - the Japanese. My little Kubota uses essentially the same mechanism for position control.

I was going to put one on my 9N - didn't realize it was a Zane Thang.
