What engine speed do I need to keep my PTO shaft spinning at 540? I have looked but have seen both 1500 RPM and full throttle.

THanks.

Paul

1500 engine RPM's will give you 545 PTO RPM's.

Paul..... ...surprizingly enuff, it don't matter what gear yer tranny is in, 1500 engine rpms is ALWAYS 540 PTO rpms. See the PTO is driven directly from the end of the tranny counter shaft. And BTW, 1500 engine rpms is about 3/4 throttle. And there are very few PTO jobs where the PTO rpms is exactly critical. (brushhoggin' ain't that critical) And surprizingly enuff, the most critical PTO job is driving a LOOOooong BELT for a thresher. Where too high a belt speed starts it flappin' off'n the pulley..... ....Dell
