Dell and anyone else that can help---I was thrown for a curve this am. I went to look at a plow that owner said was a Dearborn Model 10-1 2-14"s. (thought I was up to date on these Models from spending time on the other site). When I looked at what he had for sale I discovered it was a Dearborn Model 10-153--all complete, w/o jointers. I found one of your posts 3/6/03 where you talked about a 10-156 and a 10-181---any idea on what I now own? Good price, excellent shape, no cracks, welds, etc. The only thing not perfect is one of the coulter bearings has a little bit of wear. Is this the plow for an 8N---thanks--Tim

Tim..... ...enny catagory-1 3-point implement fits the N-Tractor, including enny model of 3-point plow. Howsomevers, the flathead 8N tractor don't have the horses to pull a 3-bottom plow. No wonder, it was designed to pull just a 2-bottom plow. Remember, it took 2-horses to pull a 1-bottom plow, and the N-tractor essentually replaced the equivalent of 4-horses (and feed expense). 2-bottoms is a 100% efficency over a 1-bottom plow. Twice as much ground plowed in the same time as 1-plow.

As to yer Ford 10-153 plow, my Ford Implement book by Peterson & Beemer list the 10-153 as a "standard plow, 12-inch, 2-bottom; with 12-inch economy frame (10-180), 12-inch sod bottom (10-41) or 12-inch clay bottom (10-42); and rolling landside (included with frame) less coulters and joiners (1950-1953) The sod and clay bottoms have what is called "slow-turning" moldboard to reduce draft. Unfortunately, I don't have pictures to show the differences.

There is no such item as a "stock-plow", it was similar to ordering an automobile, and adding extra options. With a plow, all the numbers after 10, specifies the options, numer of bottoms, plow width, moldboards, coulters, etc..... ....Dell
