Because the N tractors had poitive ground does the solinoid switch have to be+gnd? Does it have to be 6V or will a Ford 12V work? Thanks

Oregonfarmer..... ....the OEM 3-terminal starter mounted solenoid doesn't care, positive or negative ground. And while it was originally designed for 6-volt operation, it works just fine on 12-volts, infact the internal electromagnet becomes stronger and probably clacks louder.

Remember, the OEM 3-terminal starter mounted is internally wired HOT and the little middle terminal is grounded by the BIG thumb starter safety interlocked pushbutton by the tranny shifter. Mount the solenoid so the little middle terminal faces the engine block and is hard to get to or it won't work..... ...Dell
