Most cylinders have very low compression. # 4 cylinder has a valve that is loose along with the guide. #3 has a stuck intake valve. #2 just plain is low along with #1. Now the question. How do you put the valve, guide and all back in?? Ya I know the book calls for a spiecial tool but guess what? I don't have one. Can it be done with out that speacial tool??

I've done a lot of them and never had any special tools. Like OldHokie says big screw driver, small pry bar, couple of small wood blocks will suffice nicely. Valve, guide, spring and retainers are assembled and then placed in the block fron the top. I like a small pair of vice grips clamped to the retainer so I can place it in the groove and shove it in when I have the space.

Yep - I don't recall how I did it exactly but it probably involved a big screwdriver and a fair number of curse words.

YMMV,
