New manifold causing problem

I got my tractor back up and running last weekend. I had a cracked manifold so I ordered a new one and replaced it. Seems the new one is slightly larger in size or something because when I went to reinstall the valve push rod covers, they seem to hit the bottom of the manifold and therefore will not quite seat right. I tightened them down anyhow and the most forward on leaks oil in the lower right corner. I can"t get it tight enough to seal and it has a brand new gasket. I"m thinking I may have to grind the top of the covers to make them come up a bit more and fully seat into the opening as they are supposed to. Anyone else had this problem?

I have one manifold that did that too, It has the big Made in China on it. Anyway I used my 4.5" grinder and removed enough material on it to clear the valve covers. The only material that even matters is where the gasket mates.
10 minute fix.

Are you maybe putting them on with the down side up?? Have you tried flipping them 180 to see if they fit better or front one for the back one?? Just a couple ideas to try but all just guesses

If the new manifold is that much larger the old one and thicker on bottom i think i would grind down the bottom of the manifold..just my 2cents...Dave..
