Ok here is the problems I'm having, Iput 3 kids & 2 cement blocks, a total weight of 370 lbs on my blade that weighs about 200 lbs. So looking at about 570 lbs. With quadrant up, engine at about 1/2 rpm blade will go down in a very short time, like real quick.Engine off blade stays up a long time, yes kids got bored sitting there. Don't see a leak at the cyl. O-ring & piston & cyl are only 4-5 years old, don't think thats my problem. Pump makes some knocking noise when lifted. The lift goes up & down a couple inches when left in the up postion. I see bubbles in the oil but can't rightly tell where they are coming from, front or rear of pump.
Could this be the relief valve or maybe one of the internal valves? l have a Zane thang but have never been able to get it to work right in case that helps any. Also wondering how important the friction disc is on the quadrant? Thank you for any help I can get. And sorry about the long post. This is a 44 2N. Rusty

Hmm.. if the lift holds when the engine is off, then it should hold when the engine is running, unless the quadrant is slipping.. or the ZT is hooke dup backwards (grin)

Hey souNdguy. While ANYTHING is possible, I don't think its probable that the Zane Thang can be installed backwards.
Just tryin to help.....don t. ...

I think the hookup from the lift arm could be reversed .. ie hung upside down, thus pushing the hytrol down when the lift arms go down.. IE reverse feedback. Anywhow.. i think you missed the (grin) after my message.
