My 2N died and won"t start. Can"t get a spark!

I put in a tune-up kit so have new points. condenser and plugs. Set the points at .015 and timed according to the manual. Battery reads 6.3 Volts and have that at the coil connection. Put on an old good coil and still no spark. Distributor cap is fairly new and can see no cracks.

Would appreciate any suggestions as to where to go next.

I think you found your problem. if yuo are only getting 6.3 v at the top of the coil.. it is an open circuit.. either points aren't closing.. or the pig tail spring is not touching... 6.3v is battery v. With the points closed you should get somewhere between 2.5 and 3.5 v

Since you have fire at the top of the coil, remove the gasket under the coil and try it..You might have to put a piece of cardboard under the coil bail to hold it tight without the gasket. If it cranks like this, you will know that either the spring connection needs stretched slightly(carefully) or the other connection tab on the coil is not contacting properly..
