Hello,

I've recently ran into an 8N with a few implements for sale and the seller is willing to part. I've been on the lookout for some period implements that I can use with my 8N and thought I'd get your opinions.

The first is a fairly new bushog. It's a 4-footer and probably a New Holland. The owner said they've had it probably less than 10 years without much use. It's been stored in a shed until recently (moved outdoors last fall). Looks to be in good shape.

Second was a very nice 5'-6' blade (can't remember how big). It's got a Ford tag on the tubular frame and is in very nice shape other than minor surface rust. Has the usual blade angle adjustments but also came with an unusual tilting adjustment. I'd never seen one like this before and thought it would be a nice/useful addition to my 8N.

The last implement was an older pond scoop. It was also in good condition w/ minor surface rust. It has the capability of mounting to the 3-pt hitch either forwards (for pulling) or backwards (for pushing) the bucket. Has the lever dump and the bucket is good and solid.

They will seperate the implements from the tractor but won't seperate the implements from each other. The asking price for all 3 items is $600. Does this sound reasonable for what they are?

Thanks for any comments/advice. My old bushog is about shot and the home-made blade that I snagged w/ my tractor is about too heavy to do much with. I just haven't been on the market for implements long enough to know the value of this stuff.

Thanks again!

Well guys, thanks for all the input. I ended up talking to the owner on Monday and got them talked down to $500 for everything. I stopped by last night with a check and I'll be picking everything up this weekend.

I'm thinking the 5' bushog will be the best for what I need it for (8+ acres). I'll probably sell both bushogs and my old blade and look for a decent 5-footer somewhere down the road.

Let me know if anyone's looking in southern Indiana for a hog or blade!

Thanks again,
Justin

A 4' bushhog is OK if you don't need to mow close to anything. The back tires are 5', though, so you won't be able to get close to the fence, shed, etc...

Thanks for the comments. I'm thinking it's a decent/fair deal as well and will probably go after it. I would miss the 5' cutting with my old bushog, but having a newer one would probably make life more enjoyable. I'm thinking the blade and scoop will be the most useful and the selling point for me.

Thanks,
Justin

Price is going to depend on local demand, but around here, a good bushhog will bring up to $100/foot, a 6' blade around $100-150, and about $25-75 for the scoop.

I usually figure half price of new on used good working implements.

The ford mower.. is it a 590/591 ? if so it is a good mower, assuming the gearbox doesn't leak. i had a 59x 4' mower for a few years till I got a 5' mower.

Sounds like an ok deal.. not super awesome.. but also not a rip off either. Easy to check prices of new equipment.. call a tsc store.. etc, and price a 4' mower, tilt blade and scoop.. and see what you are saving.

If i needed those 3 implements and saw them for 600$.. I'm guessing I'd go get my trailer...

Justin..... ....good advice on prices for used implements.

Howsomevers; ennny N-Tractor is a 5-foot brushhogger. I wouldn't want to mow alotta ground with a 4-footer 'cuz it'll take ferr-ever. But sittin' onnna tractor seat sure beats pushin' a 2-foot hand lawnmower. (grin)..... ....Dell, the lazy

You can always sell the 4 foot mower for $300 and buy a 5 foot.
