Greetings!

What size roll pin should I expect to need for a '48 8N to hold the ORC onto the PTO shaft? The one that was in there disintegrated from use/abuse and the ORC fell off..!! The local New Holland dealer dont show it in the parts diagram... I was going to use a hand full of drill bits to try and determine the dia. of the hole in the PTO shaft, but thought I'd try the N-series FOAK first...!!

Thanks!

Thank you, all, for you're advice...!

Like most of this stuff, once I got in there and did it, it became obvious how it all worked...

Tractor's back up and ready to shred, but it's been raining since about mid-night (Praise God) and so now I'll have to wait till it dries up a bit...

Regards;

I think I just used a 1/4" bolt to drive mine out. But you might be looking at a new ORC. Mine did the same thing and the insides were wrecked so I could not reuse it.

The 5/16x2" roll-pin is a very hard slightly oversized SPRING that you haffta collapse by "friction-fit"..... ....Dell

If breaking this roll pin gets to be a problem, take a look at the PTO shaft between the tractor and equipment. The part that slides in and out is usually not lubed properly causing pulling and pushing on the ORC..... Kelly.

Thanks for the advice, Kelly... I'll hose it good with WD40... If the roll-pin didn't outright shatter, how would you get it out? there's so much crud on the ORC I can't tell if the roll-pin hole goes all the way through... I've got it soaking... will take a closer look when I clean it up...
Thanks!

Its a hunt and dig process. I've taken a screwdriver and shop rag and dig away the grease through the outer holes on the ORC. Remove the grease fittings or plugs from both sides and when you find the broken part/parts, drive it out.
