Making progress on my 8N Hydraulic troubles. The draft control plunger is rusted tight to the control linkage jamming things up. A mixture of heat & penetrating oil got the yoke unscrewed and the spring off. Now on to getting the pin out of the clevis where it is rusted tight.

Q1. Can I use heat here? Worried about these rather more precise parts than the large cast yoke.

Q2 I’m getting ready to order gaskets, felt etc. Since I have this apart I think I ought to do the hydraulic piston rings as well. I remember seeing something here about neoprene o-rings rather than steel. Advice?

Thanks as alwasy.

As to Q2, the new o-ring style is better. Changing will require the purchase of a new piston also. As a now retired Ford tractor dealer the steel rings went out of service a LONG time ago.
