I have been on a trip this week so havent got to evaulate my clutch rebuild yet.

I thought of another question about my carbureator rebuild kit which is not identiifed in the kit or in the ford manual.

A small quarter inch circular white cotton(?) filter was in my rebuild kit. It also has a hole in the center.

I couldnt identify where it is suppose to go from the rebuild kit instuctions and I couldnt match a picture to the manual.

From what little infomation I could gather it was for a 9n rebuild.

Can anyone tell me where this piece is suppose to go if it should go anywhere at all on a 1949 ford 8n with a marvel Shwebel TSX 241B carb?

After reading your responses to the other guys I'd suggest you put it away someplace in case you need it someday then forget you ever saw it. There are often parts in carb kits that are used in some carb models and not others that the kit is designed for. You've been through your carb and didn't find anyplace it seemed to be used so I'd say don't worry about it.
Later, Lee

The hole is smaller than this shaft.

That is supposed to go on your throttle shaft to prevent dust from being sucked through beween the shaft and the carb housing. I have also seen little rubber seals in the kit for same purpose.

The hole on this little white cotton filter is smaller than the throttle shaft.

It will not fit.

Take the choke shaft out. Then pry the copper seal retainer out with a small screw driver. The copper seal retainer is sometimes missing. Next install the spring, seal retainer, and seal onto the choke shaft. Then install the shaft. You will have to pack the cotton seal in the hole before pressing the seal reatiner back into the hole. The cotton packing will help prevent air leaking in through the shaft hole. You should have a little rubber seal for the throttle shaft. It is also installed behind a copper seal retainer which is sometimes missing.
