Okay, split her back opened. Checked everything out. Everything is good. Slid her back together with no problem. When I used the come-a-long before, I really didnt exert a lot of pressure. It just helped the one man job. Nothing was damaged and I still believe everythign I changed was done correctly (proof is when it starts and runs right however)Here is my question and what I need help with... Once back together the clutch depresses funny. Talking to some other mechanics, they thought that the clutch pedal was probably adjusted by last owner when original clutch disc had been wearing down. Now that I have replaced with a brand new one, I will need to readjust because it is thicker than the worn one. When I depress the pedal it is very light until the last couple of inches then I get a lot of pressure. I see on the pedal the pin on the back side which I will need to remove and then pull out the two inch long quarter inch diameter shaft. Once this is out I can then adjust the screw level connected to the outside portion of the clutch hinge (some of these descriptions might be vague). Once I get the screw level correct, I will replace the shaft and the pin on the back side. Then the pedal range will be correct. 1. Is this the correct way to adjust the range of the cluthc? 2. How do I know what range is the correct range? 3. Is there another reason the clutch presses down 3-4inches with no pressure and then the last 2 inches I feel pressure?
