my tractor was running fine untill it started skipping real bad . i pulled the distributor cap off and the rotor button had distroyed itself so i replaced it and the coil and coil wire ,points and plugs .now i have power on both sides of the coil and at the points(set at .25) BUT CANNOT GET FIRE TO THE PLUG WIRES HAVEN'T CHANGED THEM YET BUT WILL. ANY IDEAS? THANKS IN ADVANCE

If I gap my points with a feeler gage my 8N will not start. I have to gap them to where there is just a little daylight between the points. Also check to be sure that the points are not grounded on the distributor. Good Luck!

How about the cap? Why did the rotor button self-destruct? If you have fire to the points, the "weakest link" has to be in the button or cap.
