We made the trip to Norfolk and got our son. The truck we were going to tow is in a shop up there. Could not locate a trailor or dolly to tow it with. He said to thank all ya'll for your thoughts and your thanks and he will pass the word on to the crew. He is proud to do his duty, and so are the crew of the USS ARLEIGH BURKE (DDG 51). The only problem he had was when he got to port his wife was not there . She was at her new place with her new "friend" . He is torn up but getting better. Hope it is over real soon, so he can try to get his life back together and going in a normal way.

Congratulations on your son. Thanks to him and others who put there lives on the line we enjoy the freedoms we have. Now if everyone understood commitments like that life would be a lot easier in our little space in the world.

Hi Roland,
Tell your son to hang in there. He learned something now that would have been much harder to learn later. I am glad she moved out rather than cheating and sneaking around. It is far better to get it done and over with, and then go on with the rest of his life. I bet he learned a whole lot about what he wants in his next wife! It takes a special lady to be a saliors wife, I hope he finds one next time around.

Sawmill, her "friend" (a national guard guy), was another man and it started 2 months after he was deployed, and he lived in my sons apartment a while and helped her spend the money he made over seas. He just found out. Now he has no money and no home but the ship. He said he will be alright in a while but it is very hard on him now. He is a strong young man that his mother, sister, and I are proud of, and he will be be even stronger when this is over.

Roland, first, I'm so sorry for your son right know, but he is much better off. Secondly, I feel for you and your family, but she would never have been a good daughter-in-law or mother. I was in Viet Nam in 65-66 and saw to many dear john letters to these guys. Being 10,000 miles from home, living in a hell hole and then to receive this letter was bad. You would think that a Natonal Guard guy would have more respect. I think this is where an a@@hole and a toilet seat met. Good look to all.
