would appreciate any help trying to figure out a problem on an 8n it starts running rich occasionaly, sometimes it happens when you let off the gas sometimes it does it under a steady load it will start flooding out and the only way to keep it running is to give it more throttle then it will clear up and start running ok after about 20 to 30 seconds until the problem occurs again. while raking hay last summer noticed that you could go around the field and in one spot on the field that is a slight grade that I would be going across not up or down the grade it would start to flood out every time at that one spot on the field when going the other direction the problem wouldnt occur even though the field was far from being level in other areas. wondering if a govenor could possibly cause this problem or does it have to be a carb related problem, have put in a carb kit and still continue to have the same problem.

I had a similar problem. It would start and run while working it would start running rich somtimes would even die with gas running out of carb. I could shut off gas let it sit a short time and it would restart and run. I can't say your problem is the same as mine but I would check to see if the float is set correctly. I had a hole in mine and it would get heavy and not stop the gas flow. Sealed the hole but it still did not work correct. Must of made it to heavy to work right. I had to replace the float and it is running good now.

I'm also having carb problems, I tried cleaning the fuel filters with no luck I now am thinking it might be the govenor, are they hard to replace?
