I just came in from several hours of blading. I have a 49 8N with a 5' box blade and have be doing a little seat time with it. I got the blade to move a lot of the loose rocks that have GROWN up in the yard around the house. Here in the Hill Country of Texas we have a lot of 'boulder' sized rocks. In my experimenting over the last few days, I finally began using the draft control with the blade and I have seen the genius of Harry Fergeson. Once the bucket gets loaded up with my setting that I have locked in with the wing nut, it maintains an even pull, if I pick up more rock and dirt down the way, the blade moves up, some dirt spills out and I just keep on chugin'. Before in position control, if I got too much on the blade the wheels would spin, forcing me to move the lift lever a little higher to release some of the load. Now that I'm using draft control, it is so much easier. That said, my 8N has done more things better than I ever imagined.
Sorry if this got a little long, I'm just very impressed with my purchase.

Why must everything always be bigger in Texas? We have some nice sized rocks here in NC too. I just wish I had my tractor done so I could move something. Dirt, gravel, grass anything. LOL

Ray,

Since you have been moving rocks/etc. around with your 8N, I thought you'd enjoy this previous post I did. Link below.

Regards,
Larry

Nice work, and thanks for the link. BTW I'm using a 5' Box blade from Tractor Supply which is made by King Kutter and I am pleased as punch with it.
