Hey everybody! I'm still trying to piece together everything for my FEL and had a quick question.

16" front rims are suggested with a loader to help with steering and distribute the weight over a wider tire. Does anyone know of a fairly common 16" automotive tire that fits the lug pattern on the 8N? I don't imagine a 6-lug Chevy tire would fit it, huh? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Justin in Indiana

Justin..... ...welp, yer 8N front wheel hub is 6-holes on 6" diameter spacing. Ain't NO Chebby got 6" diameter spacing. New 16" FORD TRACTOR rims $50, (cheap), used about $15-25 (cheaper) HINT: tires are tires, they ain't rims. But the advice about bigger wider tires is good advice for carrying front end loader weight..... ...Dell

Dell says: "Ain't NO Chebby got 6" diameter spacing."

I know that that is wrong. Chevy Blazers had 6 x 6" rims-- I know since i used them on my Datsun pickup that uses the 6 x 6" rims also. You should not have any trouble finding 6 x 6" rims.

Roger, sorry to tell you but Chev 6 hole rims will not bolt up to any of the ford tractors. BTDT and it doesn;t work. If they would I would have had chev rims on more then one of my tractors. Since I have so many chev 6 hole rims laying around I don't know what to do with them.

Why not use 16" Ford tractor wheels? This is the 8N I'm parting out that has 16" tractor wheels and car tires. The 850 in the background also has 16" Ford tractor wheels with tri-rib tractor tires.

Well, I can't find any 16" Ford Tractor wheels locally and I was hoping to find a good substitute that I could grab cheap at a salvage yard or something.

Jim, shoot me an email if you're parting them out for cheap. Didn't you also mention having a cracked front mount for a Dearborn Loader as well?

Thanks,
Justin

I've got a set of 16" rims with tires on them I want to trade even across for 19" if that's what you've got. Email me if you're interested.

Any good tractor place will have rims, or a farm and home place like TSC will have them. The rim is the same as used on a lot of differant tractors. You can also use 15 inch rims from an old JD 14T hay baler on the ford spindle. I know because I have done it before and then car/truck tires are easy to find and all

In addition to several tractors that use the same 6 bolt pattern in a variety of rim diameters, many things like wagon gear and other implements also use them.

Many years ago I copped an original 16" wheel from an old Ford wagon on my uncle's farm, to use on my Jubilee. He replaced it with a 15" wheel/tire from a JD wagon that was laid-up with a broken axle at the time. He'll be 90 next month, still claims I owe him a "rim".
