Gangue,

I picked up a Ford 3pt boom at a sale. Can't read the warning sticker. Can anyone fill in the weight limit, please?

Thanks,

Paul

Hey Paul: Don't worry about the sticker. Just use good ole common sense. If you think something might be a little heavy, then just lift it a little and see if your front end gets light. If so, then just connect it to the hook closer to the tractor. The kinds of things I've moved with my boom include a 100gal. LP tank (empty), lots of railroad ties, and more than a few V8 engines (350's and 400's). Tried to lift my mother-in-law into my pickup but the front end went skyward even on the hook next to the tractor. She wasn't too thrilled with the chain wrapped around her neck either.

LOL..... ....Ed

Most of the cat. 1 booms that I have seen are rated 500 lbs. at the end hookup and 1000 lbs. at the center point. As Dell said these are legal disclaimers and the useable limits are when the front end starts floating. Another limiting factor, at least on my 8N is when the pump starts hammering and jerking. I can lift my King Kutter rotary cutter or my box blade, both about 500 lbs., with the boom without any problem.

Paul..... .I recognize that sticker, got the same on my "back saver". Can't read mine eather. But your sticker is obsolete because its not bi-lingual. (grin)

I really don't know what the max weight capacity is, but I've lifted 600 lbs with mine and the frontwheels were just touching the ground, I steered by brake pedal.

My opinion, alot of these safety warnings really have nothing to do with safety, but have alot to do with keeping lawyers un-employed..... ..Dell
