O.K. Ran my 48 8n with 6volt front mount yesterday bushhogging for 1 and 1/2 hours. At that point all most done and tractor started to sputter and stalled , would start up but only run for 5 minutes before stalling again, I let it sit over night and it started right up this morning but only ran for a couple of minutes before it will stall again and did this a few times. Decided to let sit for a hour and took off the bushhog.Went back out and she started right up and ran great with no implement in all geers???? I know symptoms point towards coil, but could there be a relation between pulling the implement, using PTO and the tractor stalling?? I did notice a little grinding sound coming from under the seat when I disengaged PTO. Oil pressure a little low??

Thanks guys, I will check all symptoms of fuel flow. I do have a in line fuel filter wiill check that. Why did people put on the inline filters??? This was on it when I bought it. The filter screws into the carb elbow right now. How would I hook it up with out the fuel filter?? I heard that the elbow is soppose to have a screen in it? I don't think mine does?? Took off gas tank last season and cleaned.. Tractor ran great all summer,I do have a little rust in the bottom of tank. Am I looking at pulling tank and replacing???

Pitting won't be an issue.. but loose scally rust will be.

Some fuel filters, if not designed for gravity feed systems will impede fuel flow sufficiently to starve a carb.

A new elbow with scree is a couple bucks.

You really should have a good stream from the bottom o fthe carb.. not sure that a trickle describes that...

I'd agree.. .. probably fuel.. or tank vacume.. next time it stall, slowly remove tank cap and see if it hisses.. and then restarts fine.. also check fuel flow at the carb bowl drain..

( the pto load makes it use more fuel.. thus agravating the issue )

yup, I am with the fuel clog consensus too, I actually just had the same problem on one of my 2n's, It had an inline fuel filter, thats gone, , but i was going up in my woods and it stalled, restarted after a minute or two, thnen stalled again, I disconnected the fuel line from carb"this was rubber hose from taking out in line" and blew in it, through to tank ,, works now, for a while anyway {it will more than likely happen again on me until I clean the tank yea right hahha},, you may have junk built up around the screen, next time it stalls take off the carb line and see if you dont have a full flow,, bet thats your problem, pat

Sorry I would say you have a fuel problem not a coil problem. If it was the coil it would have had to sit for and hour or more to start again. Fuel problems cna fix them self if tried enough and have time to clear junk out of the passages in the carb. I'd check all the filters and also gas flow, you probably just had a little junk in the fuel system.

Sounds like a clogged fuel screen/filter.
