Looking for replacement, friend found Ford(?) tranny, but has different shift pattern. Left and up=1st,left and down=2nd, center up =3rd, center down = 4th, Right up = S ( doesn't look like a 5), Right down= R. Could this be from a thousand series? Or? Thanks Joe

old9...have you tried looking in the left column under tractor parts + ford + (your model) NAA + drive train.
they have an assortment of components maybe you can use.

That transmission is a Ferguson tractor transmission. Same as TO 30 or TO 20.

Will fit a Ford at the rear end but not at the front end.

old 9..... ....congratulations, you have found a Ferguson tranny with the START button built into the shifter lever. They are NOT interchangeable with Ford trannys. Fergies and Fords look very simular, they oughtta, Harry had all the N-Ford drawings when Henry Ford II told Harry Ferguson his fathers handshake deal was OVER. So Ferguson sued for pattent infringement. The rest is history..... ..Dell

I wish you luck on finding one. The only trannys that will work in your NAA is the 1953 Jubilee and the 1954 NAA trannys. A friend a long long time ago found that out when he broke the rear end houseing on his Jubilee.

Years ago I stopped to see if an ol' boy near Wellsboro, PA with a back yard full of old Fords, might have a ring and pinion for my Jubilee.

Never verified it elsewhere, but he told me the only tranny/ring and pinion that'd work would have to be from the Jubilee series. Said the parts from the 8N/2N/9N series were different. Figured the ol' boy would know, since he'd had a mess of old Fords around there for years. Besides selling parts, he'd rebuild/repaint a few each year, roll 'em out on the front lawn and sell them.

The Jubilee used to go clickety-clack in road gear, so I pulled the plug and qawked into the rearend housing with a penlight while turning a rear wheel. There were several adjacent teeth on the ring gear that were partially chipped.

Never made any noticeable noise in anything but road gear. Guy I sold it to didn't seem to care the gears were chipped.
