well it was the switch I guess, because I changed it out and it seemed to run fine for an hour yesterday.

Question..... .How do I adjust the throttle lever and governor so that it doesn"t return to idle half way up at 3 o clock on the throttle slide. Can"t figure it out.

How hard is it to do the brakes..... ..I have had the rear wheels off but not the hub...I tried once to break loose the hub nuts and they wouldn"t budge.....need some break free or WD-40 or something..... ..

Make sure you have the correct rod from the throttle attached to the correct arm on the gov.

Have the same rod thats been on it since I purchased the tractor years ago..... .the throtle lever thing has just got worse over time..
I don't know if I can shorten the linkage ..... think it has special ball receivers on each end..... ..

Ron..... ....would it surprize you to learn yer throttle rod ball-couplers are "adjustable"? Just "un-snap" the coupler (eather end that is convenient) and re-thread the coupler down/up the rod and lock the locknut. The throttle rod coupler length should be "ZERO" tension between the carb spring-loaded idlespeed throttle stop ball and the governor throttle lever ball. Simple, eh?..... ...Dell

Not all the rod-end snap couplers are adjustable, they are simply spring-loaded.

Bob..... ...well shuckie-doo, yer gonnna make me walk out to my 8N and inspect my throttle rods? According the detailed drawings of the 8N governor in my N-Ford MPC, all governor rod linkages have a threaded rod end with adjustable length lock NUT that the springloaded ballsocket screws onto..... ...Dell

I'm glad you solved the switch problem... early on I had told you to temporarily jumper around it, to see if the engine would run better!

I just replied to the post below about throttle lever problems.

I am NOT an "N" brake guy. The brakes on my 8N work about as well as can be expected, and the bucket of my loader is an auxillary brake!
