Ok, off topic again,, but yesterday afternoon that durn sneaky snake SOB got Waaaay to close to my house !!! We were sitting out on the new patio just watching the birds and what not. My wife ask me what that new hose I had in the pond/waterfall was for... Was not a new hose,, was a durn snake!!! I feel more and more like I am cursed every day!!! Our pond with the water fall and a lot of wife's big flowers of all sorts is like 30 feet from where we sitting on the stone patio.

Grabbed her small hoe,, WAY too short a handle and headed that way. He saw me coming and slipped into the rocks for the waterfall.. Grrrrr r... Ok, carefully I got the water hose and sprayed everywhere I could find and went back to watch for him.

Didn't take long, bout 30 minutes saw him off to one side in the yard.. Grabbed the hoe and tip toed up to him.. I was wishing that hoe handle was LOT longer.. Took a whack at him, and missed, flipped him farther out in the yard and commenced to beat and chop him repeatedly around the head into small mince meat pieces !!!

Finally gave it up and when Wife ask what kind it was,, I said a good one.. About 4 ft and deader than a door nail!!! I don't know what kind it was before you ask... All I know is, he will never come around here again!!

I tell you my heart and blood pressure can't handle this!!! Calling a pest control service I know of for advice or service, have seen some spray stuff at Lowe's but not tried it, yet.. I tell you, this year is weird,, just plain weired!!

I prefer the .410. Quiet effective and fairly safe. Only shoot the bad ones and not your foot.

It's odd to hear that an "Ole Country Boy" is so afraid of snakes. They're coming around because there is a food source. Find out what that is and it'll be easier to get rid of them.

Some folks here in the older south had a real fear of snakes and could not stand to have one any near the house as they were considered to be evil spirits. They spread lime and/or sulfer around the perimeter and it worked for them. About 2 weeks ago we were up in NC and our DIL found a large snake in her garage, to ease the tension I went to Lowes and bought some of the snake repellant in a big plastic bottle. Guess what it has in it? Yep, the ages old remedy!

Last night one of my neighbors call me say they had a snake in a bush beside their front door and they were scared to go outside. I went over and it was about five feet long and harmless. I took it off the bush with a rake and took it over to a swampy area near my house and released it. Another neighbor saw me release it and was upset with me. Cant win for losing. I use to kill every one I saw but getting older I have mellowed out as God put them here for a purpose and they do help us out. Also in some states it is illegal to kill them.
