New questions... (steering and hydraulic)

1949 Ford 8n with front mount distributor.

For those interested from yesterday's message, I pulled the distibutor back out and checked eveything. Everything looked good. Didnt change anything on the distibutor. Noticed the secondary contact on the coil was probably not long enough to make contact. I bent it out and put eveything back togehter. Low and behold she started up and ran like a champ last night.

Here are my new questions...
1. When I split the tractor and replaced the clutch disc and various other parts a couple months ago, I had to unscrew the connectors to the steering rods (unsure if that is the right terminology). Also 9ns and 2ns I have seen do not have these screw on steerign rods. Anyway when I screwed them back on, I did my best to get them back the way they were for good steering. Steering isnt too bad now it is just that there is a lot of play in the steering wheel. When going straight there is a half a wheel turn either way in which it floats or doesnt engage the wheels. Turning is not a problem it is more of making fine tune adjustments when going straight. I am pretty sure these need to be adjusted. How are these meant to be adjusted. I looked through my FO-4 manual but I have a cheap version and is not as thorough as others and couldnt find anything on this. Where shoudl I start?
2. On the right side below the seat is the Hytrol (?) handle for posiiton control or plowing. Maybe I am confused but when the handle is down for plowing, shoudnt I still be able to raise the lift with the position controler? Currently when hytrol handle is horizontal the only thing I can do is lower my implement if I have already raised it by putting the hytrol handle vertical? Does that make sense? I dont see why I would ever use the hytrol handle in plowing mode because to raise the implement I have to switch back to position control vertical position. The only difference is the PTO is engaged and spinning when the hytrol controller is vertical. If I should be able to raise the implements with the hytrol handle in the horizontal position then what is wrong with my hydraulics?
