How the heck can some folks take advantage of an old man? My father had an 'extra' 8N, he wanted to get rid of it he gave me a price and the deal was done. Well, my dad is 80 and is getting along in years and doesn't always think the way he used to. The word was out that he had a 8N for sale, but not that I had bought it. Some clown offered him $650 cash and 'bought it' without seeing it. Deal of the year! This is a great tractor...complete engine overhaul last year, great tin, clean, no smoke, good hydraulics and everything else. When my dad told me this I had a stroke, almost. Turns out this guy who 'bought it' told his friends how he 'took the old man to town'. I was really bent out of shape at this point. In the end things worked out well...this guy came to my barn to pick up the 8N and I was there, I just said hello and let him do the talking...he looked it over and looked for the key his buddy was smiling all the time. He asked me a few times for the key and I ignored him, he started to get a little demanding. I handed him an envelope with a money order for $650 and told him there was no sale, he got nasty, I told him he was on private property and that I owned the tractor and that the sale was made in error. He got foul mouthed and told me what he was going to do to me and so on, about that time my three neighbors 'happened' to stop by and the guy and his friend soon left. I called a friend of mine at the sherrifs department and he stopped by to talk to this guy...I don't think we will see him again. This bum knew it was an unreal deal and that my father's mind isn't always there and he did this to him and then got nasty...I love a good deal, but not taking advantage of a person. I am glad this worked out well in the end.
