Pull the right side inspection cover with the lift up and pto running.. look in with a flashlight.. ( keep fingers out.. just -look- in ).. Look for a leak.. Most likely there will be a stream of oil coming from the mouth of the lift cyl that is mounted upside down under your seat.. Other causes could be a leaky gasket between the lift cyl and the top cover.. could be the top cover to the hyd section gasket.. could be a hole in the standpipe that runs from the top cover to the pump base plate.. could be the gasket between the pump base plate and the hyd sectio.. could be a leaky relief valve, could be leaky pump chamber gaskets.. etc. In any case, it's only a 9 hr job to pull the seat, lift link arms from upper lift arms, drain sump, pull pto shaft and side cover, drop pump, remove lift cover.. etc Depending on where you problem is.. you may only have to pull the top cover.. etc. More than likely it is just a scratched worn cyl. Standard reapir is to hone the lift cyl with a brake hone, and install a new NAA lift piston with rubber oring, and leather backup washer.. If the cyl is badly scratched.. you may need a new one. You can reseal the pump.. drop in a new relief valve.. do all gaskets, get a new piston / oring/ washer, and oil for about 115$. Less if yuo don't change the oil. If you need a new cylinder.. add another 90-100$ Do yourself a favor and spend another 30$ and get an I&T FO4 manual. For this job you need pretty much a single wrench.. torque wrench, and a gasket scraper... When you pull the top cover.. only remov ethe bolts areounf he outter edge.. the 4 bolts to the middle hold the cyl in place... pay attention to clean gasket surfaces.. and don't use any gasket goop...
