You know, I've been looking for a cast aluminum dash now for quite some time. I came close on one occasion and actually had one shipped, but it had a 7/8" hole drilled into the dash and wood chisel marks around the perimter and I paid extra for it becasue it was in great shape. I sent it back. So, I continued with my search and had been working with a parts guy and for 6 weeks promises were made to send me a real good condition aluminum dash. 6 weeks later, the UPS box arrives with a steel dash. I sent it back. For 3-4 weeks after that, the company kept promising to send me that cast aluminum dash that "his guys" left on the shelf and sent the wrong one. 5 weeks later I still don't have a cast aluminum dash, but I have a hefty phone bill to Minnestoa, Illinois, and Wisconsin, NOrth Carolina, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, North Dakota, South Dakota, Indiana, and Massachussets. But you know what? Here's what my search has brought me during this time: A muffler gaurd that looks great, an original bronze fuel valve and sediment bowl, and original gas cap, a 4 spoke steering wheel, one original oil gauge, and the promise of an original dash light that hasn't showed up but I expect this parts guy to have sent me a new one, because original to him is a new one, orignal to me is an old one (I'll send it back too), and one of those small 1939/40 original generators that works and cost a small fortune, and it's on my shelf. So it goes... I figure at this rate, if I keep looking for a good condition cast aluminum dash, and if I'm in no hurry I'll have found a pair of smooth rear hubs, a set of C.M. Hall front lights, and if I am really lucky and the search drags on for another year or more, by the time I find one I'll have had an entire 9N in parts minus a dash shipped to me Fed-X and UPS. Maybe, someday soon, I'll find that cast aluminum dash, but for now I'll just look at the pile of goodies stacked upon the bookshelf near the kitchen and wonder if the journey is still the reward. 9N'er BTW, that's one way to sneak another tractor by the wife...one part at a time via UPS...the pile grows imperceptibly until one day she wakes up and the pile is a standing tractor..hmmmmm mmm I think i'm on to something here....forget the cast aluminum dash...I'm going to find me another tractor; now, where's that phone book?
