You can't have thin skin when you post on a forum that serves thousands - it takes all kinds to make the world turn.

Old, lots of people get into a fracas now and then on the forum, me included. Don't let it drive you away.

And remember now - you are the one who came up with that Army manual that's served so many people so well. If you hadn't told me about it and scanned pages for me, none of us (well, most of us) would never have gotten a copy to study. And you sent me a practice carburetor! And so many other things.

It takes lots of people to make this forum what it is. You're one of them. And since we're all different, there are going to be unpleasant...er, unpleasantries? unpleasantnesses? Heck! As my ex-husband used to say (he had his moments, after all!): "There are some people in this world, that if they like you then you know you're doing something wrong." So let it go if you can, and dive right back in.

Besides, Arthur's still in pieces!!! And I have a feeling it's going to take advice from every single person here to help me get him back together again (after I finish taking him apart more). :-)

I'm sure there's a way to turn off direct emails to you, and the moderator(s) can give you some guidance there. If it's REALLY bad the perpetrator(s) can have actions taken against them through a variety of channels; without making too much of a political statement, there are LOTS of folks in the guvmint who'd LOVE to jump all over someone making threats or using excessive obscenities.

I've left other forums before when I discovered they were populated and run by foul-mouthed (foul-fingered?) punks who just want to insult others. Their 'forum rules' consisted of a list of posters you shouldn't question, because they were always right. Uh-huh.

All of this is long way of saying we need decent, helpful people in this world. It's an uphill battle against 'the forces of evil' (for lack of a better term), but I (and apparently a lot of other folks here) hope you'll stick it out and stay with us. And if there's anything we can do to, uh, 'discourage' your tormentors, we'll stick by you.

Remarks from the guys on the bar stools about how much of a "bad-guy" I am, whenever, I used to service the compressor units behind the bar that made their beer cold. I would say simply, "looks like you NEED a new one", right after I overheard the first remark on how "they" felt I didn't know what I was doing.

Coarse. if they are using foul language or making threats.. I'd report them to their internet service provider.... I had a fellow a few years back that was sending me obscene email from AOL. It took exactly 2 emails to AOL to get it fixed. First one to report the problem and ask that they help stop the offender. then after it continued, i emailed them and said I would be notiftying law enforcement and asked them who I should list as the AOL contact person... I think I also mentioned about contacting the newspaper and seeing if they were interested in doing a story on obscen email originating from aol...that brough near immediate reaction and relief... I never got another meail from the offender again..
