OT, Gas tank trash

Off Topic again,, My JD yard mower has a plastic gas tank of course. Electric fuel pump. Gas tank is not removable with out taking a major part of the body off. Anyway,, I have a hand operated gas pump on my 10 gallon plastic gas can. Always keep it closed and the tank on the mower is always closed. The vent is a small hole in the gas cap on the mower.

Then the question becomes, how the heck does all the trash get in the mower tank? I am talking grass pieces, dirt and all sorts of ugly stuff. I never saw this much stuff in any tank I ever had, even the old ford! Going to move it outside and pump the fuel out, strain it and put back into the storage tank. But I would like to stop the trash from getting in there in the first place.

Any ideas?

Naw, maybe I did not explain myself well enough. Mower is in the locked barn, no one uses it but me. The trash in it looks like grass leaves and don't know what. and yes it has the rubber gasket between cap and tank. and as for security cameras,, got em!!! night vision somewhat,, no one gets in that barn.

So, you are all clueless as I am huh?

Like t-model suggested, is someone mad at you. Store the gas where only you can get to it. If you have a game camera, set it up to see who or what is dumping garbage in your tractor gas. This happened to me several years ago. A person for no particular reason dropped some Rolaides in the 9N gas tank. Couldn't figure it out at first, but eventually did. Took the tank off and dumped the gas in a field and burned it. Good luck. Ron
