Angel..... ...them's almost fighting words "exact color" amoung the self-appointed sphincterly challenged tractor officiallity inspectors. I can tell you that the N-Ford Master Parts Catalog (MPC) lists the 2N's paint as p/n: M-2888 Enamal, grey. Notta lotta help is it? Variously called institutional grey, industrial gray, battleship grey, smoke grey. (pickka name) Claim that the currently available grey mix for Ferguson TO-20 & TO-30's comes closest to matching original 2N grey. Better'n various brands of tractor paints claiming to match 2N's. Problem is, Ford has had 4-different tractor grey colors. Iff'n Ford ever published a paint chemical mixture formula its been lost in time ...ie... 2-cups of titianium white, 1-cup carbon black; 4-gals of enamel; eye of lizard, blood of a batt, boil and truble the old chrones cackled. (id: McBeth, W Sheakspeer) Heres the deal, Ford painted the 9N's & 2N's the cheapest paint he could buy, industrial paint. And what was painted first thing in the morning didn't necessarily match 250 tractors later in the evening. And mondays paint didn't necessarily match fridays paint. Understand the dichotomy? And even worse, my eyeball's gray ain't gonnna be the same as yer eyeball's gray. Bottom line, its yer tractor, paint it any color that pleases you..... ...Dell, the 20/20 painter (looks good at 20ft or 20mph)
