It is still a 6 volt, positive ground. With 4-nipple squarecan frontmount distributor.

I had to remove the whole rotor assembly because of a front oil pan leak, I repalced the front rope seal w/the new 1 pc type.

Put everything back together nad turned it over but no spark. As I understand it the rotor can only go in one way. Does it make any difference if the engine had been rotated manually?

I just want my tractor to run, can someone please help me!

As Tom said.. as long as you didn't get the cam out of alignment.. it is ok.. Just turning the engine over is no biggie.. the distrib only mates up one way..

Rotating by hand will not affect anything. I have never quite understood how the one piece seal installation is done but as long as you don't get the gears out of time you can rotate it all day and it don't matter. When I was chasing a valve spring problem I rotated mine with a wrench enough to plow 40 acres..I assume it was running before you tore it down.

It was running all I did was remove the front plates per thsi sites instructions. So I didn't have to remove anything else.

Since I had so much of the tractor apart, (oil pna dropped, front cover off, hood off, radiator off) I decided to repaint everything. Maybe the gen is not grounding properly? I painted all of that and the brackets.

If the generator is not grounding that would not affwct "No spark"..

Would not keep it from having spark. Example: When I bought mine it had no generator or alternator at all. The old guy just made sure he started the day with a good hot battery and he could bush hog all day, then he'd put his battery on a portable charger so it would be "hot" for the next time. Most experts on here talk about polarizing anytime you change out the battery etc, so I assume that polarizing it will not hurt anything..Another example/experience: My Dad also has a 2N that I grew up using. I know he has had it for 35-40 years(I went with him when he bought it) and he has never even known anything about polarization..

It would or would not?

I labeled all wires and posts before removing anything. The gen was off the tractor for about 2 weeks. Would it need to be polorized?
