Is it common for the starter bendix (hope thats the proper term)to hang behind the flywheel on an
8N.The starter on my 8N has done this about four
times now.Once you spend a half day trying to get
the starter out and put it back in the tractor
will start and run okay for about a month or two
before it happens again. The last time it happen
I shut the tractor off for a few hours, and came back to start the tractor, and it had happen again.Question, what could cause this, and is there
anything I can do to correct the problem? I took
the starter to a starter repair shop and had it
checked and everything was fine with the starter.
Thanks for your help.

Arthur..... ...iff'n yer starter bendix don't re-spin OFF after yer engine kicks over, yer starter bendix is BAD and needs to be replaced.

I suggest the new improved "clutch" style starter bendix. More rugged, doesn't spin-back when engine koffs during hard start.

In all cases, starter bendix must be SQUEEKIE CLEAN..... ....Dell
