Guys..... ....found a new "toy" the other day hanging on a rack at autoparts store. An adjustable sparkgap tester with handy ground clippie. Sorry, I don't have a picture to post.

For years, I've been telling you guys to bend enny old sparkie's side electrode out for 3/16" gap to check yer ignition coil for blue-snott sparkes. 8N-Ford Owners Manual states ignition should jump 3/16" gap. I started testing my 6-volt sidemount ignition system by cranking the starter. Jumped 3/16".....taker off and un-screw the gap to 1/4"..... jumps-it.....taker off and un-screw the gap to 3/8"..... jumps-it. NEAT-O, it was impressive. Something that good grounds and clean points will do for you..... ....Dell the braggert

At 1 milion volts per meter, 3/8" = 9,187.5 volts.

Small engine shops use one that is just a spark plug with a large battery clip on one side to clip it to cylinder head.No ground electrode on the plug.Briggs & Stratton makes a nice spark gauge, check with one of their parts distributors.

They must not be very good.

Third Party Image

I've sold a couple on ebay, with a "9N, 2N, and 8N " link, without much interest!

Seriously, I think they're a neat tool, and was surprised more folks weren't interested.

Yeah, I seem to have "tossed" the photo I was using to sell them on ebay. The one I posted is from somewhere on the 'net.
