I was driving the tractor while I was raking hay. I gave it some gas and it just quit and would not start again. It does not seem to be getting any spark. If anyone has any idea what might be wrong please let us know. The tractor had been running like a charm.

Thanks,

Rodney..... ..there are 4-common runtime issues with N-tractors.

1) runs for about 1-min and quits; restarts 'bout 5-mins; bad condenser
NOT yer stated problem altho loose connection could be
2) runs for about 5-mins and quits; restarts 'bout 10-mins; clogged fuel filters (3ea)
NOT yer stated problem altho water in the bottom of the gastank can cause it to quit
3) runs for about 15-mins and quits; restarts 'bout 15-mins; bad ignition switch guttz
NOT yer stated problem altho loose connection could be
4) runs for about 1-hr and quits; restarts after overnite cooldown; Sound like yer stated problem? BAD IGNITION COIL

Heres the deal; the frontmount squarecan ignition coil has insulated tar that melts when it gitts too HOT and shorts outs some of the turns and guess what? WEAK SPARKIES.

And when you gaver the gas, you blew-out yer sparkies and have also flooded yer sparkies with invisable gas deposits that leak yer sparkies. Recommend you replace yer flooded sparkies with clean dry sparkies (AutoLite AL-437 gapped 0.025)..... ...Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister

That's Autolite-437, or AL-437. Autolite AL-437 is redundant. Problem there being the 19 year old typing "Autolite AL-437" into the computer at the auto parts chainstore will come up with "NO ITEMS FOUND". Then you no get your sparkies, understand?

Yes, if the parts clerk has the brain of a turnip, so says Bruce, who does not mind putting his name with his posts.

My thought would be to replace the conderser.
Fire normally stops suddenly, fuel stumbles a few times before stopping.

6v or 12v, front or side distributor? You need to determine first if it's a spark or fuel problem. W/ the gas turned on, remove the bolt in the bottom of the carb; it should be a nice steady stream. To check for spark, rmove a plug (or use an old one) hold it against the block & crank the engine w/ the key on; it should be a nice blue spark. Run these tests & get back w/ us & you will get plenty of help.
