Finally got my 8N back together w/help from this forum. I started it up and have great oil pressure. Looked for oil leaks found none and called it a day. Went out the next morning and there below the timing cover and govenor, OIL!
Traced it back and it looks like it is coimg from the lower timing cover area. Should I have used some silcon or Perma gasket? Can I replace this gasket w/o having to take all the front and hood back off?

The governor housing is probably warped because someone somewhere figured it would finally stop leaking if you tightend it down just a little more. Remove the governor & lay a straight edge across it & see for yourself. If it's warped, lap it w/ some heavy grit sand paper on a flat surface & reinstall. One gasket & light coat of silicon sealer if it makes you feel better (I do not use any) Finally, remember, shorT bolT on Top. Otherwise, you get to replace the timing gear next.

Bruce, after farther tracing, it is coming from the timing cover seam. Lowest area.
