on the post about pulling with a drawbar,
it was suggested by a couple of the posters to pull from the front bumper.
i understand the reason is for safety.
i have no problem with that.
but is there a possibility of pulling the front axle off the body of the tractor?
wouldn't that be pulling on the king pin?

I would rather break the front axle then my neck!

I think the intent of the post about pulling from the front was not meant to hook to the front axle but to hook from the front of the tractor underneath the belly back to the drawbar. This would eliminate most of the possibility of a flip-over. Doesn't this make better sense now???

Yes it does put a lot of strain on your front end.
However I think the answer was given with the understanding and assumption that you do not operate in a vacuum. Hopefully you are in tune with your machine and task at hand to know when enough is enough, and stop before something is broken or someone hurt.
These N-series are light tractors and not designed for pulling trees, we all do it and we all should know the risk we subject ourselves and our machines to in doing so. I personally pull using my below the differential drawbar. If the object, tree bush fencepost, does not appear conducive to being yanked up by the roots I jump off the tractor and do a little handwork with the pickax and repeat the sequence til the goal is accomplished.

"wouldn't that be pulling on the king pin?"

I do not think so. The radius arms would take most of the pull.
