First of all, let me say that there are any number of sites where I might get an answer to my question, but frankly, I don't really have much confidence in their answers. I have asked for advice on this board for several years now about a myriad of things and have gotten some really useful info. Anytime I have a question about any subject, I think of you first. I thank you all for that..My question has to do with bathroom scales. The one we have is broken. It used to work well. I could get on and it would read 175 lbs everyday. But here lately, it is error prone and yesterday, it said 205. Time to get a new scale. I've been looking at several types. Most of them today are digital, but some are still the old fashioned mechanical type with the Sweep hand. Anyone know how the digital scale works? Are the inner workings really any different from the mechanical sweep hand type? Do digital scales depend on springs, gravity or is there a counter-balance (which I personally think is more exacting)? digitals are the least expensive. I've Seen them for as little as $10 and as much as $80. Is the $80 really that much better? I know the old saying "you get what you pay for", but if that were true in this case, then I should get another "mechanical type" as they are now $40-100 ea. and I just think that the newer digital scale being more modern is probably a little more accurate. Thanks in advance for any information..Ron Ps: Yes, I am getting bigger in the waist, but at the same time, I getting shorter so I think the weight should remain the same. Don't you?
