Squeaking PTO (pump?)

Today in my typical Fluff for Brains style
I got my 8n stuck. Almost turned it over too.
I was bush hogging weeds down at the river.
This is unpredictable terrain due to yearly floods.
I went thru a patch of weeds and dropped off an enbankment.
It was only about 18 inches but one side was high.
The right tires went up the high side and I thought
that was it, it's rolling over, but it didn't.
The back wheels dropped on over the embankment.
The bush hog bottomed out and tires started spinning.
It was almost dark (of course, I couldn't do this in the daylight).
So I have been down there digging out the embankment
under the bush hog to get it unstuck. I finally got it free.
First thing I notice is a squeek/squeel from the PTO.
So I disengaged it and drove it back to the house.
It was now 12:30am. I parked it in the yard and
lowered the lift all the way. Before I shut it
down and while I still had a light I decided to try
it again. I engaged the PTO and it raised fine.
But when it got up near the top it started squeeling.
So I shut it off and figured I will investigate tomorrow.
I know I am a little low on fluid.
But it has never made a noise like that.
Could I have damaged something.
I had the PTO shaft off while I was working on it.
So the problem was somewhere in the tractor.
I'll investigate it tomorrow when it gets daylight.
But what would make it squeel like that.

Thanks.

Mine does the same thing if I overload it. I think its the pressure relief valve.

Pooh..... ...squeeks, eh? while low hydraulic fluid could do it, (I doubt it) it usually makes the pump knock. Bettcha ya BENT yer PTO shaft when you dropped off the bank. New PTO shaft is modern 1-3/8 with new bearings and seals and a 15-minute 4-bolt job. $100 (not cheap leason learned)..... ...Dell

Wouldn't that make it squeak/squeal constantly?
It only does it when it gets to the top of the lift.
I just put a new shaft in it.
Don't know that I could afford another one.
I do hear the pump knocking sometimes.
I will try adding fluid.
How can I check if I bent the shaft.
Any other ideas.

Thanks.

Pooh..... ...shaft bent enuff that it squeels will be an obviouly visual thing 'specially when you power it for a test squeel.

You write..... .."It only does it when it gets to the top of the lift"..... ..that would most likely be the internal pressure relief valve poppin' off..... ....Dell
