I rewired all the lights on my tractor. I ran separate ground wire to eliminat problems with grounding down the road. When I got done, I couldnt shut off the tractor with the ignition switch. Kept running! I thing I made the mistake of wiring the lights through the switch and probably burned it out. Ill check the switch first thing. Any other ideas? I had it wired into the terminal block on one leg and to the lights on the other. My diagram shows both legs coming from the switch to either side of the terminal block. That might be my problem too?

Jj,
Onliest change I'd make from the diagram is to wire the lights to the bottom post on the block. You could use the lights without the ignition switch on and the current draw of the lights would not have to go through the ignition switch. If you want a separate wire for ground, connect it to the battery ground.

I don't understand "both sides of the terminal block" as there's only one connection called terminal block. Wire from the terminal block to one side of the light switch and to the lights from the other side of the light switch. Ground wire back to ground somewhere. Do not run the lights through the ignition switch. HTH.

the wiring diagram for a 53NAA shows a two post terminal block, and I have what I believe is a two post terminal block. My wiring does not go directly to the switch, but to that two pole terminal block. My diagram shows the switch hooking up to those two lugs. I think I hooked one side of my switch directly to the lights.

I have not been around an NAA in a while but I think they wire similar to an 8N. Are you sure you did not wire the lights to the 2 pole ballast resistor? It is mounted on a little square which also holds the terminal block stud. If you did wire the lights there it may affect your ignition system by providing another power source for the points/coil circuit. See the diagram, may not be just like yours but should be close HTH

Ron..... ..the 6-volt roundcan ignition coil 5-nipple NAA distributor does NOT have the "infamous" ballast resistor. Only the 6-volt squarecan 4-nipple frontmount ignition system requires the infamous ballast resistor..... ...respectfully, Dell
