Where can I find the model number on my tractor. I know it is a 1949, but not sure if its 2N, 8N etc.

EMp. gave you good advice. If you 'know' it is a 49 then it is a 8n.. .. however check the sn anyway.. and report back about tranny, as that will id the chassie make... which is generally what your tractor is ID'd by.. as many 8n engines are in 9n chassies, and many 9n engines are in 8n chassie.. etc.. 100% swapable motors..

You need to know the S/N on the engine block and go from there. If its a 3 speed then you have a 9N or 2N. If its a 4 speed then its a 8N.

The S/N is on the flat spot on the block under the head to the right of the oil filter can.

Thanks. I just inherited the 1949 from my grandfather and am trying to find out about it.
