Was going to replace the seal on the PTO due to leakage. Removed the unit and find the collar on the shaft is not pressed against the bearing. Question, can I press it on further (approx. 3/8" gap between it and bearing). Do I heat it? The collar on the opposite side of the bearing appears to be part of the PTO shaft, correct? Should I buy a new collar and start over? Thanks for the help.

Zane, I woudered about that. Beaing is now captured between tyhe two sleeves and I have 2" of spline beyond the back collar. I will rty the ORC and see if the hole lines up. Thanks

I'd clean up the shaft in the gap area real well, then coat it with Loctite High-strength Bearing and Sleeve Retaining Compound, and press the sleeve fully in place, COLD.

Thanks Bob,

I Will do as you suggest. I plan on holding against the front sleeve when I press the rear sleeve. OK?

Better be sure which sleeve has slipped. Don't want to cause the PTO shaft to be too far back or forward.
