Have aquired an 8N with what appears
to be at least a stepdown gear. There
"feels"like one or more setting but
there's doesn't seem to be much speed
change. The lever is on the right side
of the transmission, its also flat and
fits tight again the housing making it
difficult to operate.Don't have much
knowledge about how they work but don't want to take it apart if I can
help it.It does put the tranny in
neutral even though its in gear
with the shifting lever. Any thoughts
would be apprciated..Ron in WI

The only aux tranny I've seen with the lever on the right side of the tractor is a Hupp. Don't remember the lever being flat, though. Smith or Nseries.com may have a pic of a Hupp for comparison.

I can't help you with the question, however if you post a picture it might be worth a thousand answers, just a thought, Paul
