Here is the finished original Dearborn Motor Company swinging drawbar I refirbished. I took the pin and roller off (by accident), but it gave me the opportunity to clean all the rust off in between these moving parts. I wire welded the complete drawbar and coated with phosphoric acid. My FIL welded the center pin back exactly like the original was, and I put a few coats of TSC New Holland Red Impliment enamel paint on it.

As usual.. like a piece o' art.

I think I'm not gonna bother painting my tractors anymore.. I'm just gonna refurb them.. then send them to you... Your painting skills are very nice..

Thanks for the kind words. Now I can get rid of my TSC drawbar that I had to rig up to work on my OEM bracket (because the OEM pin is too large). This will be a nice addition to my 48 8N trailer queen to pull the hay wagon ride during our annual property celebration.

Dan-
Nice looking drawbar, nice work.
If you don't mind, I am currently making due with the TSC drawbar in the same fashion you seemed to have been.
Can you describe how you did it, or have any pics of the TSC set up?
I'm looking for a bit better way than the rigged up job I have now.

Thanks in advance,
Chad

P.S. Make sure to post a pic of your hayride.

No big deal - I just used an old radius arm pin and ran it UP through the bottom of the bracket, then through the TSC drawbar, then the top of the bracket. I slid a thick washer that the ID of the radius arm pin could fit through over the pin and in between the top of the bracket and the bottom of the differential housing, then ran a big cotter pin through the hole towards the end of the radius arm pin so it sits on top of the washer to keep the pin from dropping back down through the bracket. I have to use a pair of needle nose pliers to get the cotter pin on and flaired out a bit to keep it in place. If you do not have a spare radius arm pin, you can probably use one of those pins that goes through the top link and rocker bracket, but will still have to use a big cotter pin on top because of space constraints.

Not at all fancy, but it worked two years in a row for pulling the hay wagon ride until I found the correct drawbar.

Good luck,
Dan

That's how I set mine up, except I've been using the pin that goes through the top link.
I need to refurbish my diffy bracket as is a bit bent down from the previous owner.
Drawbar sags quite a bit.

I hope to find an old used flatbed wagon for hayrides myself.
We have a lot of parties each year, and all the kids love the tractor and the rides.
But my existing trailer is too small and too low to the ground.
Not enough space and too many exhaust fumes on the passengers.

Anyway, I appreciate the reply.

I forgot to tell you I used my 11 hole drawbar that goes between the lift arms under by pulling drawbar and secure it with a bolt and nut - the holes lined up perfectly. This way, it supports my pulling drawbar vertically so I don't have the sagging problem. Of course - do not try to raise the lift arms with this setup...

Funny story - since you mentioned exhaust fumes - last year I pulled my group around touring my property, and a few felt really light headed after the ride. I discovered one of my plugs was not firing and there was a lot of un-burned fuel causing quite a noxious mixture in the exhaust fumes. Funny thing is - I never even noticed I was only running on three cylinders :-)

You might want to add one of those angled exhaust tips. I've added them to all my N's it diverts the exhaust down and to the rear of the tire and out the side, vs straight back to the hay ride people.

Also helps out when you are back there hooking up implements
